Who this is for
Our hosting and maintenance plans are for Coventry businesses that want their website looked after without thinking about it. That is usually owners of WordPress web builds and online shops who do not have an in-house developer, and businesses who have had a bad experience with a site going down or being hacked.
If your site was built by someone else, we can still look after it, after a short health check.

Why maintenance matters
WordPress runs a large share of the web, which makes it a common target. Most compromises of small business sites come through plugins or themes that have not been updated. When that happens, the site may be defaced, used to send spam, or flagged as unsafe by browsers, and your enquiries stop until it is cleaned.
Regular updates, a small number of well-chosen plugins and tested backups turn that from a lost week into a minor inconvenience. Updates themselves can also break things, which is why we check the site after each round and keep a rollback ready.
A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a backup. We test restores so we know they work.
04
How it works month to month
- Onboarding. We audit the site, remove unused plugins, fix urgent issues and move hosting if needed.
- Routine. Updates and checks on a set schedule, plus immediate patching for serious security issues.
- Requests. You email change requests; we confirm and complete them, usually within a couple of working days.
- Reporting. A short monthly note covering updates, uptime, backups and any issues.
05
What drives the cost
The monthly cost depends on the size and type of site, the hosting it needs, and how much change time you want included. A simple brochure site needs much less than a busy online shop with many plugins and integrations. Sites with a lot of custom code take more care to update safely. We quote a fixed monthly price after the initial health check, and changes beyond the included time are charged at a stated hourly rate.
06
Common mistakes
- Cheap shared hosting that makes the site slow at busy times.
- Auto-updating everything with nobody checking the site afterwards.
- Backups stored on the same server as the site.
- The domain registered in a former developer's or employee's name.
- Dozens of plugins installed for small features and never removed.
07
Speed and why hosting affects it
Page speed affects both visitors and search rankings. A lot of slow small business sites are not badly built; they are on crowded budget hosting that struggles whenever traffic rises. Moving to better hosting, adding caching and serving images in modern formats often makes a bigger difference than any redesign.
We measure Core Web Vitals before and after any hosting move, so you can see the change rather than take our word for it.
08
Taking over from another provider
If your site is currently hosted elsewhere, we handle the move: copying files and databases, testing on the new server, switching DNS at a quiet time and checking email and forms afterwards. The most common delay is finding out who controls the domain, so check that early. If it is registered to a former employee or old agency, we can help you recover it.
- Domain registrar login
- Current hosting login or a contact at the provider
- Website admin login
- A list of any email accounts using the domain
09
Security basics we put in place
- Strong, unique admin passwords and two-factor sign-in.
- Admin accounts only for people who need them, removed when staff leave.
- A web application firewall in front of the site.
- File permissions set correctly and unused themes removed.
None of this is exotic. It is simply the work that tends not to happen when nobody is responsible for the site.

How we measure it
Uptime, page speed, the number of updates applied, security alerts dealt with and backup restores tested. You get these in the monthly report. If the site needs bigger changes, we will suggest them separately rather than letting the care plan drift. Our platform guide explains why maintenance needs differ between WordPress, Shopify and custom builds, and the Kenilworth page covers the small businesses that often rely on this kind of plan.

Frequently asked questions
Do I keep ownership of my site and domain?
Yes. The domain should be registered in your business name, and you can have admin access at any time. If you leave, we hand everything over.
Can you host a site you did not build?
Yes, after a health check. If the site has serious problems, we will tell you before taking it on.
What happens if the site goes down?
Our monitoring alerts us, and we investigate straight away during working hours. Most outages are resolved quickly.
Do you host email?
We recommend Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for business email rather than web hosting mailboxes, and we can help set it up.
Is there a contract?
Plans are month to month after an initial onboarding period.
