Coventry website design studio
Web design for Coventry businesses, built to spec
We are web designers in Coventry who plan, draw and build websites for local firms: engineering suppliers, start-ups, logistics operators, trades, shops and venues across Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

01 / The brief
Coventry website design that starts with measurement
This is a city that taught the country to build cars. Daimler opened Britain's first car factory here in 1896, and names like Triumph, Hillman, Rootes and Jaguar followed. JLR's headquarters is still at Whitley, the electric black cab is built at Ansty, and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre and WMG at the University of Warwick make Coventry one of the main places in Britain where electric vehicle technology is developed.
We think a website should be engineered the same way: work out what it has to do, draw it, test it, then build it properly. Most poor small business websites are not badly coded. They were never specified. Nobody wrote down who the site was for, what those people needed and what the business wanted them to do next.
So every project starts with a short discovery: who your customers are, how they find you now, what your competitors' sites do well, and which pages bring in enquiries. From that we produce a site plan and wireframes, agree them with you, and only then design and build.
02 / Services
Web design, web development and SEO for Coventry businesses
- S-01
Website design
A website designed from the customer backwards: what they need to see, in what order, on the device they actually use.
- S-02
E-commerce websites
Online shops for retailers and trade suppliers, from a forty-product gift shop to a parts catalogue with thousands of part numbers.
- S-03
Website redesign
Rebuilding a tired site without throwing away the search traffic and links it has built up over the years.
- S-04
Local SEO
Search work for businesses that want to be found by people in Coventry and Warwickshire, not by everyone everywhere.
- S-05
Web development
For when a template will not do: portals, calculators, booking tools and links between your website and your back-office systems.
- S-06
Branding and identity
A clear visual identity for new ventures and for established firms whose look no longer matches the work they do.
- S-07
Hosting and maintenance
Keeping the site fast, patched and backed up after launch, with someone to call when a change is needed.
- S-08
Copywriting and content
Words that explain what you do in plain English, for buyers who skim and search engines that read every line.

03 / Local knowledge
Web designers who know the Coventry economy
Coventry businesses are not a single market. A website for a precision machining firm near the Binley industrial estates has nothing in common with one for a bar on Far Gosford Street, and both are different again from a battery start-up spun out of research at Warwick.
We spend most of our time on a handful of local sectors:
- Automotive and EV supply chain. Tier-two and tier-three suppliers, engineering consultancies, test houses and battery R&D firms that sell to procurement teams.
- Advanced manufacturing. Firms around Ansty Park and its Manufacturing Technology Centre, plus aerospace and defence suppliers across Warwickshire.
- Logistics and distribution. Hauliers and warehouse operators in the Golden Triangle around Coventry, Rugby and the M6, M1 and M69.
- University spin-outs and start-ups. Young companies around the University of Warwick, Coventry University and their science and technology parks.
- Retail, hospitality and trades. Independent businesses in the city centre, Earlsdon, Kenilworth, Leamington and the surrounding towns.
Knowing these sectors means we ask the right questions early. A buyer at a vehicle maker wants to see standards and capability. An HGV driver looking for work wants pay and shift patterns. A visitor to the cathedral quarter wants to know if you are open.
04 / Process
How a Coventry web design project runs
- STEP 1
Measure
A discovery call, a look at your analytics and search data, and a review of the competitors your customers compare you with.
- STEP 2
Draw
A site plan and grey-box wireframes for the key pages. You mark them up; we revise until the structure is right.
- STEP 3
Design
Your brand applied to the agreed layout: type, colour, photography and interaction, designed for phones first.
- STEP 4
Build
Clean, fast code on the right platform: WordPress, Shopify, a static build or a custom application.
- STEP 5
Test
Checks on real devices, accessibility, speed, forms, redirects and structured data before anything goes live.
- STEP 6
Hand over
Training, documentation and, if you want it, a care plan for hosting, updates and small changes.
05 / Platforms
WordPress web design, e-commerce web builds and custom development
WordPress websites
For businesses that want to own their site outright and publish regularly. We build lean custom themes rather than heavy page builders, which keeps sites fast and easier to maintain.
E-commerce web shops
Shopify for most retailers, WooCommerce where it fits better, and custom catalogues for trade suppliers with account pricing or large part ranges.
Custom and static builds
Very fast static sites for marketing pages, and custom applications where you need calculators, portals or links into an ERP, CRM or job-management system.
Not sure which you need? Our guide to choosing between WordPress, Shopify and a custom build explains the trade-offs and running costs.
06 / Example projects
The kind of work we do
Anonymised examples. We do not publish client names or invented percentages.

Automotive supply chain
A tier-two machining supplier in east Coventry
The firm had a decade-old site that said almost nothing about its capability. Buyers asking for quotes were being sent PDFs by email because the website could not answer basic questions.

EV and battery R&D
A university-connected battery start-up
A small team spun out of research work needed a credible site ahead of a funding round and had about three weeks.

Logistics
A regional haulier near Rugby
The business struggled to recruit drivers and warehouse staff. The careers page was a single paragraph and an email address.

07 / Areas
Website design across Coventry, Warwickshire and the West Midlands
Most of our clients are within half an hour of the city centre. We meet in person when it helps, and work remotely the rest of the time.
- Coventry city centre
- Kenilworth
- Rugby
- Nuneaton and Bedworth
- Warwick and Leamington Spa
- Ansty Park and east Coventry
Coventry's City of Culture year in 2021 brought a lot of new attention to the city, and the cathedral quarter, the Canal Basin and Far Gosford Street are busier for it. Further out, Kenilworth's castle, Rugby's distribution parks and Nuneaton's trades and retail businesses each bring their own kind of brief.
08 / Questions
Coventry web design: common questions
How much does a website cost?
It depends on the size and features. A small brochure site costs far less than an online shop or a site with custom tools. After a short call we give you a written, fixed quote, so there are no surprises. Quotes are free.
How long does a project take?
A small site can be ready in three to five weeks if the content is ready. Larger sites and shops usually take two to three months. Writing and gathering photos is normally the slowest part, so we help with that.
Will my site work on phones?
Yes. We design the mobile layout first, then widen it for larger screens.
Do you do SEO as well as design?
Every site we build includes the technical basics: clean structure, page titles, descriptions, structured data and speed. Ongoing local SEO is available as a separate service.
Can I update the site myself?
Yes. We hand over with training and short written instructions, and you own the domain, content and code.
Do you only work with Coventry businesses?
Mostly Coventry and Warwickshire, but we are happy to work with businesses elsewhere in the West Midlands and beyond.
